BASIC PURPOSE: Plan and manage the room and related area's operations of the hotel to achieve customer (guests, employees, corporate and owners) satisfaction and quality service while meeting/exceeding financial goals.

ORGANIZATIONAL SCOPE: Position is responsible for short and long term planning and day-to-day operations of the housekeeping department and related areas. Recommends the area's budget and manages expenses within approved budget constraints.


  • Manage the Human Resources in the division in order to attract, retain and motivate the employees while providing a safe environment; hire, schedule, train, develop, empower, coach and counsel, conduct performance and salary reviews, resolve problems, provide open communication vehicles, discipline and terminate, as appropriate.

  • Develop, recommend, implement and manage the division's annual budget, business/marketing plan, forecasts and objectives to meet/exceed management expectations.

  • Implement company programs and manage the operations of the division in a manner consistent with Federal/State laws and regulations and company policies and procedures to ensure a high level of quality and customer satisfaction.

  • Resolve customer complaints as appropriate to maintain a high level of customer satisfaction and quality.

  • Implement emergency organization procedures and training through the management of the Security staff to ensure appropriate protection for hotel guests, staff and company assets.


  • Perform special projects and other responsibilities as assigned. Participate in task forces and committees as requested.

Knowledge and Skills:

Education: Four year college degree or equivalent education/experience.

Experience: Experience required by position is from four to five years of employment in a related position with this company or other organization(s).

Skills and Abilities:

  • Requires advanced knowledge of the principles and practices within the Rooms/Hospitality profession. This includes experiential knowledge required for management of people and complex problems.
  • Requires ability to investigate and analyze current activities or information and indicate logical conclusions and recommendations.
  • Ability to make decisions based on established policies and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate information and hotel services to management and guests.
  • Second language may be required.

No. of employees supervised: 20 - 50 employees

Travel required: Limited occasional travel to conferences and seminars.

Hours Required: Forty to fifty hours over a five-day period; scheduled days may vary based on need and will include weekends, some nights, and holidays.
